The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is one of the oldest wines of Italy. The farmland and vineyards are mentioned as early as 789 A.D., wine was already being exported from Montepulciano in 1350. The poet Francesco Redi dedicated an entire poem to the praise of ”the king of wines.”
While the name “Nobile de Montepulciano” was invented in the 1930s by one Adamo Fanetti, it is thanks to the dedicated work of generations of winemakers that the Montepulciano has formed an essential part of the landscape of Tuscan wines for centuries.
Your day tour in discovery of the secrets of the Nobile di Montepulciano includes wine cellar visits to several award-winning estates, wine tastings, and lunch at a traditional Tuscan trattoria in Montepulciano's historic center.
9:00am - Departure from Florence or your location
11:00 - Visit of the estate Poderi Boscarelli, wine tasting 12:00 noon - Short guided visit of the town center of Montepulciano and of the monumental cellars of the Cantina Contucci.
1:00pm - Lunch with local wines at the restaurant Diva e Macedo
4:00pm - Visit of the Poliziano winery for wine tasting
5:00pm - Visit of the town of Pienza
